I'm glad that neko posted the response above. I wouldn't have known the answer because I've never had a need for vertical text but I'd like to point out that the reason OO can't handle some of those funky formatting quirks in MS-Office is because MSFT has got the code all tied up in legal knots. The key? Compose your documents in OO. OO document formats are public. If MSO can't read them, it's because MSFT did a bad job of coding.(See also CSS in MSIE). Thanks Neko ... now, could you drop by my buddy's house and explain to him that Linux has plenty of quality software? He's afraid someone will catch him shopping at Freshmeat.
